Senior Front-End Developer (SC Cleared)

NEC Software Solutions is hiring a Senior Front-End Developer (SC Cleared) to build accessible public-sector digital services using Next.js, React, and TypeScript.

This role combines technical leadership, architecture ownership, and cross-functional delivery with strong focus on performance, maintainability, and WCAG 2.2 AA conformance.

• Lead end-to-end front-end feature delivery from design to production.
• Define architecture, standards, patterns, and component reuse strategy.
• Own front-end testing strategy across unit, integration, and E2E levels.
• Optimize performance and accessibility against Core Web Vitals and WCAG 2.2 AA targets.
• Collaborate with product, design, QA, and back-end teams in Scrum delivery.
• Manage release safety via feature flags, canary rollouts, and rollback planning.
• Mentor peers, contribute documentation, and support team learning/capability growth.

• 6+ years of professional front-end engineering experience.
• Expert React knowledge (hooks, context, modern patterns, performance optimization).
• Strong Next.js experience (SSR, SSG, ISR).
• Strong TypeScript experience in scalable codebases.
• Strong testing/debugging experience (Playwright, Jest, Cypress, or equivalent).
• Strong design system and component library collaboration skills.
• Track record of technical leadership across multi-environment project delivery.
• Strong Git workflow experience including PR reviews and branching strategies.
• Active UK Security Check (SC) clearance or eligibility.
• Existing right to work and travel within the UK.

• Cloud-native delivery on AWS or Azure (serverless/containers).
• GOV.UK Design System and Service Standard experience.
• Storybook ownership for UI documentation/visual review.
• Familiarity with Figma and Mural.
• Front-end security fundamentals (XSS/CSRF, dependency scanning, secret handling).
