Senior Software Engineer - Accessibility

Mayo Clinic is hiring a Senior Software Engineer - Accessibility to lead accessible engineering practices across web, Android, and iOS platforms.

The role combines hands-on development, technical mentorship, and accessibility automation strategy to improve conformance quality at scale across product teams.

• Implement standards-compliant accessible code across web and mobile platforms.
• Conduct accessibility-focused code reviews and partner with design/QA on defect remediation.
• Mentor engineers on platform-specific accessibility implementation (React, Swift/SwiftUI, Kotlin/Jetpack Compose).
• Define and improve accessibility automation strategy (linting, CI/CD integration, automated testing, regression monitoring).
• Serve as technical SME for WCAG conformance, assistive technology compatibility, and platform accessibility APIs.
• Contribute to engineering standards, design systems, and testing infrastructure.
• Support architecture discussions, troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and cross-functional technical improvements.

• Strong software engineering experience in modern web and/or mobile stacks.
• Practical experience implementing accessibility for web, Android, and iOS products.
• Strong understanding of WCAG conformance requirements.
• Experience with CI/CD, automated testing, and shift-left quality practices.
• Strong communication skills and ability to mentor less-experienced engineers.
• Ability to work independently on complex technical problems.
• U.S. work authorization required; no visa sponsorship or transfer.
• Not eligible for F-1 STEM OPT extension through employer.

• Experience with high-level languages such as Go, Python, or Java.
• Experience in DevOps/Agile environments.
• Experience with cloud, analytics, or data-oriented service development.
