Deputy Project Director, Disability Rights Program.

The ACLU Disability Rights Project is hiring a Deputy Project Director to support strategy, litigation management, team supervision, and operations for national disability-rights advocacy.

The role partners closely with project leadership across legal, policy, coalition, and organizational workstreams in Washington, D.C. or San Francisco.

• Partner with Project Director on strategic planning and initiative execution.
• Supervise attorneys, fellows, and staff; support feedback and professional development.
• Help manage staffing balance and substantive litigation assignments.
• Lead and support federal/state disability-rights litigation activities.
• Provide legal technical assistance to affiliates, cooperating attorneys, and partners.
• Represent the project in public-facing meetings, media, and events.
• Build coalitions and relationships with national, state, and community stakeholders.
• Support case docket administration, pro bono coordination, budgeting, and fundraising tasks.

• J.D. degree and active State Bar membership.
• California or D.C. bar membership (or eligibility for admission within one year, based on location).
• Significant complex civil litigation experience in federal court.
• Demonstrated work on behalf of people with disabilities (professional and/or lived experience).
• Strong legal research, writing, analysis, and oral advocacy skills.
• Ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams and foster inclusive work environments.

• Experience supervising and managing legal staff.
• Extensive disability-rights litigation experience under federal and state law.
• Ability to manage high-priority work under deadlines.
