Assistant Director, DSS & Access Technology

Colorado School of Mines is hiring an Assistant Director, DSS & Access Technology to oversee disability support services and campus access technology strategy.

The role leads accommodations operations, stakeholder support, training, and compliance efforts to strengthen inclusive learning experiences for students with disabilities.

• Lead day-to-day operations of Disability Support Services (DSS).
• Develop and maintain campus-wide access technology strategy and initiatives.
• Support students, faculty, and staff with accommodations and access technology guidance.
• Oversee accommodation processes and service quality for students with disabilities.
• Ensure compliance with ADA, Section 504, and related regulations.
• Deliver disability awareness and inclusive practice training.
• Partner with IT, instructional design, and other university units.
• Manage DSS/accessibility budgets, resources, and policy process improvements.

• Master's degree in higher education administration, special education, disability studies, assistive technology, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years progressive experience in disability support services and/or access technology in higher education.
• Demonstrated knowledge of disability laws and regulations (ADA, Section 504).
• Experience with assistive and access technologies.
• Strong leadership, supervisory, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
• Experience in program development and implementation.

• Doctoral degree.
• Experience in university IT/technology support environments.
• Relevant certification (e.g., Assistive Technology Professional).
