Senior Quality Test Engineer I

Elsevier is hiring a Senior Quality Test Engineer I to support quality engineering for identity-focused products in health education and digital clinical learning.

The role emphasizes automation-first QA, API testing, BDD, CI/CD integration, and accessibility testing for web applications built with modern front-end technologies.

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable automated test suites (Cypress/Playwright; Java/Selenium).
• Execute comprehensive REST API testing for reliability, security, and performance.
• Build and maintain Cucumber-based BDD test scenarios.
• Integrate automated suites into CI/CD pipelines and improve framework architecture.
• Perform automated and manual accessibility testing aligned with WCAG.
• Collaborate with engineering, product, and QA stakeholders to ensure test coverage.
• Identify, document, and track defects through resolution.

• 5+ years software QA experience with strong automation focus.
• Strong expertise with Cypress or Playwright (Cypress strongly preferred).
• Strong REST API testing experience (e.g., Postman, REST Assured, framework-integrated tools).
• Hands-on Cucumber/Gherkin BDD implementation experience.
• CI/CD automation execution experience (e.g., CodePipeline, GitHub Actions, Jenkins).
• Knowledge of WCAG and accessibility testing tools (e.g., axe, Lighthouse, NVDA).
• Proficiency in TypeScript or JavaScript.
• Experience with Next.js and React applications.

• Experience with AWS cloud services and Docker/containerized workflows.
• Experience with performance testing tools.
• Experience balancing API, UI, and accessibility coverage in large product suites.
