The Digital Accessibility Specialist will provide training, guidance, and support to city staff and departments, integrate accessibility into processes and projects, and promote accessibility as part of the city’s culture. Hiring pay range $80,076 - $84,291 per year This full-time term-limited position is exempt per FLSA and is not eligible for overtime compensation. Work Schedule: This full-time position will work in person, Monday – Friday, during general business hours (8 am to 5 pm). Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesThe Digital Accessibility Specialist is responsible for ensuring the city’s digital and programmatic accessibility in compliance with federal, state, and new Colorado accessibility laws. Duties include, but are not limited to: * Document, Website, and Application Remediation – Review and remediate digital content (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and web applications) to ensure full accessibility compliance. * PDF Accessibility – Convert PDFs into accessible web pages and perform thorough PDF remediation to meet accessibility standards. * User Interface Enhancements – Recommend and implement improvements to websites and applications that enhance usability and accessibility for all users. * Training and Education – Develop and deliver training sessions, workshops, and resources to city staff and departments on accessibility requirements, tools, and best practices. * Process Improvement – Integrate accessibility into business processes, workflows, and project planning to ensure compliance is proactive rather than reactive. * Culture Building – Promote accessibility as an integral part of the city’s culture, raising awareness and fostering inclusion across all levels of the organization. * Webmaster Support – Provide backup support for the city’s webmaster, ensuring accessible content management and continuity of web services. * Compliance Monitoring – Stay current with accessibility laws, standards, and best practices; conduct periodic audits; and recommend corrective actions. * Procurement Support – Work with Procurement to review software, applications, and technology purchases to ensure accessibility requirements are included in contracts and vendor evaluations. Minimum Qualifications * Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a closely related field; and * One (1) year of experience with assistive technology solutions; or * An equivalent combination of education, training and work experience that produces the knowledge, skill, and ability to perform the essential duties and responsibilities of the position may be considered. * Must be able to pass a pre-employment criminal background check and motor vehicle records check. Preferred Qualifications * Experience with assistive technology solutions in a public sector environment Knowledge, Skills, Abilities * Knowledge of various accessibility requirements, including WCAG, Section 508, and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). * Skilled in document and PDF remediation, web content management systems (CMS), and accessible web and app development practices, such as CommonLook. * Ability to identify and recommend improvements to user interfaces that enhance accessibility and overall user experience. * Strong presentation, facilitation, and communication skills to train and support staff across departments with varying levels of technical knowledge. * Skills in writing, editing, design, organization, and project management. * Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills to troubleshoot accessibility issues and propose solutions. * Knowledge in web-based technologies, web design, current web authoring/development software, electronic commerce methods, internet stand
